Electrical Outages - WAPA

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) is the utility provider responsible for distributing electricity throughout the VI territory, including the Villa Madeleine community.

WAPA's electrical distribution is divided into areas called "Feeders." Although not specified on the official WAPA St Croix Feeder Listing (see below), the Villa Madeleine community is on FEEDER 2A.

Truth be told, power outages are not an uncommon part of "island living" and can last anywhere from a few minutes to a full day. During rare occasions, usually weather related, outages have been known to last for days or even longer.

In order to stay informed regarding both scheduled and surprise outages, it is recommended that all VM Owners sign up for "WAPA Alerts." These alerts can be received via email and/or text message. To sign up for these alerts, please visit www.viwapa.vi

A VM Tip - During an outage, please DO NOT open faucets, shower, use a hose or flush toilets. The water pumps of each individual villa require power and attempts to use water during an outage will cause air to enter the system and will likely require the villa's pump to be "primed' by Property Management before it will again function properly.

Another VM Tip
- During longer outages, a partially-filled pail of pool water can be poured into the toilet post-use, in order to cause it to flush without negatively affecting the pump.

Outages can be reported to (340) 773-2250
